The structure of the fee reflects on various overhead expenses to run the practice. Moreover the statutory requirements such as annual appraisal,re-validation by the General Medical Council, Care Quality Commission (CQC) registration, information commission registration, medical malpractice membership, compelled me to review the fee and charges accordingly. Also I spend a lot of time and resources to comply with their bureaucratic framework.Unlike pharmacists, private doctors are not entitled to get the VAT relief on drugs.
For standard consultations up to 20 minutes, the fee is £90.00 for all patients who are seen in the practice during the past one year. Those who are not seen in the past year, there will be extra £35.00. All new patients are required to fill a registration form. The fee for a new appointment for 30 minutes consultation is £155.00. At the time of booking, a non refundable deposit of £50.00 ought to be paid by all new patients to secure the appointment. It normally takes 30 minutes for the initial consultation. Therefore the balance of fee payable by new patients after the consultation is £105.00 (£135 for 30 minutes + £20 registration =£155.00 deposit £50, balance £105.00). In case a patient wishes to see the doctor out of the opening time (including Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays) in the practice, an extra fee £60.00 will be added.
For subsequent visits, if the duration of the consultation is within 20 minutes the fee is £90.00 but if it exceeds the standard twenty minutes, we will charge £45.00 for every additional 10 minutes. In consideration of other patients, it is advisable to book a longer appointment if you think your consultation will exceed 20 minutes.
All new patients, patients for minor operations/procedures, people requiring vaccinations and medicals,HGV medicals are required to pay the fee in advance.
Unless a minimum of 24 hour's notice is given, failure to report for consultations will incur a fee of £40.00 ( for all patients, members). This reflects our commitment to see you as promised.
You may pay by cash, credit/debit card except unauthorised cards and cheque(minimum £50.00 with prior arrangement). For an unauthorised credit or debit card payment, an extra 4.5% will be added to the total amount. There is an administrative charge of £25.00 for cancelling an order of immunisation/vaccination after paying for the same. No refund will be given once drugs or vaccines have been ordered. Refund will be always by cheque to avoid credit card fees incurred by the practice. If a cheque is not cleared for any reason there is a charge of £50.00.
Annual membership fee is £230.00. There is a one-off new patient registration fee of £20. For writing a prescription for 2 items of drugs NOT available in the practice is £28.00. Members of the practice requiring home visit Pay 66% (2/3)of the standard rate of £ 310.00 being £ 207.00. Membership is available to the public subject to the terms and conditions of the practice. Members can have unlimited number of consultations at £45.00 per consultation! For those who are not seen in the practice longer than one year, there is an additional charge of £35.00.
For services apart from consultations, such as medical reports, procedures, injections, medicals, vaccinations and immunisations, the fee (see below) will depend on the cost of the materials/drugs as well as the time spent on the service. We can assure you that the fee for all services will be within those recommended by the British Medical Association. Counselling and/or consent are required prior to certain vaccinations and for all minor operations and procedures.
Immunisations/minor operation/travel vaccinations |
For all vaccinations there is an administration charge of £10.00. The doctor has to fill a relevant form, and a card with vaccination records will be given to the patient. Except Meningitis B vaccination, NO VACCINATION OR IMMUNISATION WILL BE GIVEN TO CHILDREN.

Once we order the vaccine or drugs, no part of the payment will be made. The practice dispensary does not stock vaccines and drugs. If cancelled prior to the ordering, a cheque (no cash or CC refund pay)will be sent or handed over, deducting £25.

Some parents prefer their children to be given single measles and rubella vaccine for peace of mind since there was media hype that the combined MMR might cause conditions like autism and Crohn's disease. By giving single the load of antigen given at a time is reduced. But there is no scientific evidence to support that the single is better than the combined MMR. Single measles is given when the child is around 12 months, and the single rubella is given six weeks later. These injections are to be repeated when the child reaches preschool age. Single Measles and Rubella vaccines (counselling and consent required) The interval between the vaccinations is six weeks. NOT AVAILABLE |

These are normally done under local anaesthesia, in a minor operation theatre, about one mile away from the practice. The average time taken for the operation is around 40 minutes. At the time of initial consultation, the doctor will explain everything about the management of the condition. If the patient agrees to proceed, then one has to sign a consent and pay for the operation and for the suture removal in advance. Normally the specimen will be sent for histology examination in the NHS hospital and the patient will be informed the report on a later date.Minor Operations |
